How does information spread across transnational, intergenerational, and multilingual networks within Asian diasporic communities?
A study on transnational information networks and diasporic politics
This research project studies mis/disinformation in Asian diasporic communities. We examine the historical, transnational, and political contexts of mis/disinformation, specifically how lived experiences of survival, migration, war and geopolitical conflicts, and hierarchies of power (ex: class, caste, ethnicity, nation, religion) across different diasporas undergird information uptake and spread.
Seeking Research Participants
We are seeking study participants who self-identify as Asian Americans, including East, Southeast, South, and West, multi-ethnic and diasporic identities to hold one-on-one conversations about news, social media use, and personal history with a family or community member.
We aim to learn more about how diasporic histories of migration connect with political engagement and media use by co-creating methods and processes for intergenerational conversations.
